Revelstoke Ski Touring offers a range of recreational avalanche skills courses, from introductory through advanced training. We understand the mountains, and our highly-qualified, professional guides share that understanding with participants on our avalanche skills courses.

Avalanche skills courses offered by Revelstoke Ski Touring adhere to the Canadian Avalanche Association (CAA) guidelines for recreational avalanche training. These courses are designed to improve recreational avalanche safety in Canada, and to introduce a nationally recognized training standard.

AST Level 1 and 2

Avalanche Skills Training (AST)

The Avalanche Skills Training (AST) Level 1 Course will provide an entry-level decision-making framework that is based on the most advanced knowledge available. It is suitable for use by people with basic training and little experience.

The Avalanche Skills Training (AST) Level 2 Course will provide an intermediate level decision-making framework that is based on the most advanced knowledge available. It is suitable for use by people with a moderate degree of training and experience.

Companion Rescue Skills

For backcountry enthusiasts

Rogers Pass is the perfect setting for a fantastic learning environment. Starting in Revelstoke, we head out for a one-day course, learning what it takes to keep all group members safe and knowledgeable when travelling the backcountry.

The Companion Rescue Skills course builds on an AST 1 decision-making foundation. Based on the most advanced knowledge available, the Companion Rescue Skills course is suitable for people with AST 1 training, recent or not, and may be taken on a yearly basis.
